Google Calendar’s Enforced Birthdays Show The Ugly Side Of Algorithms

You may recall that Google’s mission is to “organize the world’s information”. So if you’ve been seeing the Birthdays of people you hardly know appearing UFO-like in your Google Calendar lately, never fear — this is just Mountain View doing its thang organizing your stuff.
Specifically, this bit of Googly info-admin boils down to its algorithms harvesting the birth dates of all of your Google contacts (which means anyone you might email regularly) and any Google+ users you added to the circles of your (in all likelihood Google-enforced) Google+ profile, and then inserting those dates into your calendar so you don’t have to.

MICROSOFT LAUNCHES HBO APP ON XBOX ONE

Microsoft has trumped PS4 to the race of launching of HBO app with the release of the HBO Go app on its flagship XBOX ONE although the app for PS4 is being developed and would soon be released. The new XBOX ONE app has a brand new feature that allows users pin a specific show to the home screen allowing easy picking up right from where a viewer last stopped. Although viewers using the XBOX ONE no longer need to be XBOX live gold members,an active HBO subscription along with credentials is needed. The only fly in this particular ointment is that the service is exclusive to the United States(US) as at now, This development of adding sa cable network service enhances Microsoft push to make the XBOX ONE a centralized media platform for all the needs of an entertainment room.

Hackers Gather for Cyberwar in an Intense 48-Hour Sim

Locked Shields is in only its third year, but quickly established itself as the prime multinational cyber war-games event. The quality of competitors is high including, Locatelli says, the team that uncovered the Heartbleed virus. Luca Locatelli
Locked Shields is among the world’s preeminent cyber attack simulations. For two days, international teams of hackers and system admins play both sides of a war game, simultaneously attacking and defending critical infrastructure. The details are realistic, and the exercises reflect real-world geopolitics. It is a training ground for front-line operators in a rapidly evolving form of warfare in which network administrators at banks, electrical plants and government offices are as crucial to a country’s defense as uniformed troops.

NETFLIX COMES TO LINUX VIA UBUNTU INCLUDING TUTORIALS ON HOW TO USE IT

Finally LINUX users can breathe a sigh of relief as they no longer have to go through the stress of workarounds before enjoying the popular video on demand service NETFLIX  thanks to cooperations between Canonical(publishers of LINUX) and NETFLIX resulting in encrypted media extensions which is a necessity for streaming from NETFLIX. rather they can access it directly through GOOGLE CHROME to stream instead of having to edit the user agent string to con NETFLIX into believibg the browser is INTERNET EXPLORER and also using WINE (a popular WINDOWS simulator)

WINDOWS 10

Microsoft has recently released a new version of its operating system (OS)  which surprisingly was not the Windows 9 everyone was expecting including me as they skipped to Windows 10.This latest version would run on  devices such as smartphones, tablets,PC's(personal computers) and XBOX game consoles with applications for it sold from a single app store. The START menu which has been absent from the WINDOWS 8 interface also makes a return in apparent attempt by MICROSOFT  to bring users more familiar with WINDOWS 7,VISTA and XP on board to upgrade to WINDOWS 10.
